Three Wise Monkeys
Hand carved and well polished art piece made from Ghana
The 'three wise monkey' is a Japanese proverb that originated in the 17th century.
One monkey covers his eyes to "see no evil," another covers his mouth to "speak no evil,"
and the third covers his ears to "hear no evil."
In other words, the wise person is prudent in what he looks at, in what he listens to,
and in what he says. He considers the consequences, makes sensible decisions and if
he does not know what to do, he asks.
It's a great statuette for anyone's collection and it's a cute and meaningful gift to give
your family members, co-workers, friends, acquaintances and even kids
